Spooky season has officially arrived at the library! We’ve gathered a little something for everyone, from creepy reads and seasonal programs to fun activities for all ages. Each of our Adult, Young Adult, and Children’s departments has added something special to this blog, so there’s plenty to explore no matter your age or your preferred level of spooky. And because autumn is meant for a little extra fun, we’ve even added a downloadable Autumn Bingo card! Grab a cozy drink, pick a square (or five), and enjoy the season with your library.
Children’s
The Spooky Season is almost upon us. For ideas to help your family celebrate, check out these events and book recommendations brought to you by your friendly CCPL Children’s Department staff.
For a not-too-scary event, the CCPL Children’s Department invites you to our annual Family Fright Night. There will be two opportunities to see this show filled with music, dancing, skits, and stories on Saturday, October 24—3pm and 6pm. Tickets are FREE but required. This is an all-ages show, especially well-suited for young children and their families.
Be sure to browse through our Halloween picture books in their brand-new location. We recently relocated all holiday books to a single section to make them easier to find. Ask a librarian at the children’s desk and we’ll point them out to you.
The Halloween picture book section is a great place to get your spooky fix for the season, but we also have a great selection of not-too-scary-but-a-little-spooky picture books that are not holiday-specific. They’re great to check out now or anytime you or a young person in your life wants a little eerie excitement.
