Gillette, it’s time to gather! One last hurrah to the summer and to the creativity of our community.
August 8th from 10-4, our first annual Fireweed LitArts Festival celebrates the arts here at your library.
The day starts off with coffee and doughnuts in the parking lot, then ushers attendees into the Wyoming Room to be greeted by some of our favorite regional authors and artists as they introduce themselves and their work. You’ll also get to meet our headliners—but more about them in a minute!
We’ll have booths set up for our guests the whole event, inside and outside, so you can meet them, chat about their work, and buy some art for your home—printed in words, paint, clay, or otherwise—you pick your favorites!
The schedule continues with our headliners—Anne Hillerman, current author of the Leaphorn series started by her father, Tony Hillerman, (Join our “watch party” of Dark Winds while she talks about the wild ride from journalist to mystery author!); Craig Johnson, author of the Walt Longmire series, and longtime friend of our library (Curious how a book turns into a TV series? Check out his Longmire vs. Longmire panel!); James Chandler, local author of two legal thriller series (Writing a thriller? Check out his workshop for pointers!); and Reavis Wortham, our surprise guest to keep Craig from getting lonely, author of several mystery and western series (and let him tell you about his rocky journey to publication!).
They’ll sign books while they’re here, too, if that entices you even further.
All of this excitement will be book-ended by a grand Q&A of all our headliners so you can ask those burning questions from the experts.
Even if you’re not a mystery/western/thriller fan, we hope you’ll join us in the Pioneer Rooms as Lisa Arhart of Gillette College brings a panel of players and storytellers together to discuss Dungeons and Dragons and the Magic of Storytelling.
We hope you’ll join us for some live music out on the patio.
We hope you’ll join us for breakfast and lunch with our local food trucks and our outdoor “food court.”
And we hope you’ll join us for the Midnight Owl Book Nook.
