The title and cover is all it took for me to pick up this book. I have also read and enjoyed books such as My Lobotomy by Howard Dully, Stiff by Mary Roach, and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, to name a few, so I figured this one was a good bet. It was.
Many of the short stories this book consists of are medical field related, but not all. There is an entertaining one involving two paleontologists duking it out in rural Wyoming as well as one involving Thomas Edison that is a truly devastating one for dog lovers. Some of the stories I have heard before, but it was all so excellently delivered that I still enjoyed everything.
This was the first book that I have read written by Sam Kean, but it won’t be the last. I decided to put his other titles on my To Read list. Find the ones that we own, here.
