Creative Bug

Hey crafty library users! Did you know that we have a database that has art challenges, free DIY projects, free templates, and more?!

Meet Creative Bug! It is a crafter’s best friend. Similar to Pinterest, it has crafty ideas and projects for all occasions, but along with that, it has the DIY instructional tutorial and all downloads required to follow along and create too! Anyone with a library card has free access to an account!

One of my favorite Creative Bug crafts I did was a Halloween Cricut Project that only involved downloading the SVG Pattern, finding fun paper, and cutting the designs out on the Cricut Maker 3. You could also glue them to sticks or dowel rods to use them as paper dolls or Halloween decorations. I glued them to sticks and put them in our library plants throughout October. This was one of my first times using the library’s Cricut, so having the walkthrough tutorial really helped me figure out the basics of Cricut Design Space as a new user. This Halloween Project was simple, easy to follow, and made me feel confident in my ability to learn the Cricut, and the rest is history.

Apart from Cricut crafts, Creative Bug has projects for many different subjects. As seen above, you can explore topics like: art & design, sewing, quilting, paper, knitting, crochet, home & food, jewelry, and kids’ projects. It also has daily practices, challenges, and Creative Bug Live, for visiting artist crafts, seasonal trends, and crafting tips!

Personally, I am a sucker for any free easy sewing craft, but the videos on learning how to can foods, make soap, and propagate houseplants may too, be calling me in the near future.

Do you want to try Creative Bug too? All you need is to set up an account and enter your library card and pin number. A world of crafts and learning is at your fingertips!
