If you want to go on an obscure mind-bending expedition, join the team that entered the Southern Reach. Jeff VanderMeer has quickly become a favorite author of mine. I read the Southern Reach trilogy when it first came out and it was unlike anything that I had read before. Veiled in mystery with an obscure and mysterious world, I read these books one after the other. Then, imagine my surprise when I noticed an upcoming book that was a set in the same world. It had been years, and I needed to pick up this book. Before I picked up Absolution, I set out to read the trilogy again. I enjoyed it as if I was reading it for the first time. Don’t expect each book to wrap up all the mysteries in a tight little bow for you, but that is what makes you want to keep reading. I highly recommend this series if you want to read something that you have never read before.
