Treasured childhood memories:

As a child, I vividly remember how my mom would entice me to go to bed with the promise of “You can read!” Looking back, I realize I haven’t changed much; reading continues to bring me immense joy! There’s truly nothing like getting lost in a captivating book. My childhood is filled with cherished memories of my mom taking me to our local library in Livingston, Montana. We often stopped there to check out stacks of books before heading off to Yellowstone National Park. I still hold a fondness for that building, even though it’s been quite a while since my last visit. I also recall my Grandpa generously lending me one of his Louis L’Amour novels each time I visited, after I had perused and carefully cleaned them, of course. School book fairs were always a highlight for me. I was fortunate to have a wonderful mom who nurtured my reading habit and encouraged me to explore any creative hobby I wished to try. Reflecting on those times brings back so much joy as I think about some of my favorite books.

My 5th-grade teacher, Mr. Hannon, played a pivotal role in my love for reading. His vivid storytelling of “The Lord of the Rings” was spellbinding, especially his unforgettable impression of Gollum. Those sessions brought Middle-earth to life, leaving a lasting impression on me and sparking a lifelong passion for fantasy.
