My love of country music and music in general came from my husband and him singing to our girls on long road trips. They would sing right along with him and say, “Let’s sing it again Dad…over and over again!” Priceless memory for sure.
I also grew up as a little girl listening to old country music with my parents and watching my mom and dad dance the night away to some of these legendary country music icons at community dances held at a small iron ore mining town in Sunrise, Wyoming.
The Hee Haw Show, The Porter Wagner Show and the Statler Brothers Show were just a few of the TV series that I remember vividly watching with legendary country artists being guests such as Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, George Jones and Merle Haggard.
Each of these artists has left a huge impact on the genre, and they all bring something different to the table, from Dolly’s heartfelt ballads to Waylon’s outlaw attitude.
