The Doomsday Mother: Lori Vallow, Chad Daybell, and the end of an American Family by John Glatt

Check out if you are interested in true crime, religious cult-like activity, and a progression into madness and murder.

I have followed the Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow case since the two children were noted to be missing in November of 2019. This ends in tragedy, and a lingering question. What went wrong? How could a mother know that her children are missing, or worse, and continue on living while others are looking for them?

This book aims to answer some questions and provide a timeline so that readers can have a better understanding of how these children ended up murdered and buried in Chad Daybell’s pet cemetery. Although I thought I had almost all of the facts in the case, this book provided a good amount of background and insight from some key players involved. I enjoyed taking a deeper dive into the history of the “cult” Chad and Lori were involved in. It’s worth a read if you’re interested in the topic and want to learn more.
